Ohio born artist June Bell sees the small wonders of everyday life. Her art is influenced by her family farm upbringing and down to earth background. At a very early age she was taught that simple things like a rustic barn door, a spiderweb bejeweled with dew drops, or how a lamb’s tail spins as it nurses are beautiful things to be appreciated. This childhood connection to nature led her to want to capture the extraordinary in common things so she always has her camera nearby. Some of her favorite subjects are space related art, nature, wildlife, abstracts, still life, and architecture.
This rural farm girl turned suburban Mom and artist loves to travel. Much of her art comes from these travel locations in the forms of photos, paintings, note cards and items collaged into shadow box art. When June's sons were young, the oil paints would dry on the palette before she was able to finish a painting, so she began exploring watercolors, and picking up the camera. Her shadow box art started when she found unusual items that blended together to make a fun, quirky grouping or a collection of items that chronicled a person’s journey through life.
Family is very important to June and so is giving back. She volunteered at her sons’ school, sports, 4-H, illustrated a church cookbook for her Mom and participated in Relay for Life. June is an eclectic artist and every day is a new adventure.
